The Walla Walla Police Department is proud to launch an ALPR Transparency Portal in partnership with Flock Safety. Our department is aware and would like to inform the public of the effectiveness and value that our ALPR technology can provide law enforcement. With the opening of the Transparency Portal, we will be in a better position to build on the public's already elevated level of trust in us and our credibility as we use technology to improve public safety. We will also be able to effectively communicate and demonstrate our commitment to transparency and accountability.

Flock Safety is a company that provides a public safety operating system to help communities and law enforcement work together to eliminate crime, protect privacy, and mitigate bias. They offer a city-wide safety platform that combines the power of License Plate Recognition (LPR), gunshot detection, and video to provide reliable evidence for solving crimes. The Walla Walla Police Department (WWPD) uses Flock Safety technology to capture objective evidence without compromising individual privacy. The Walla Walla Police Department utilizes retroactive search to solve crimes after they've occurred. Additionally, the Walla Walla Police Department utilizes real-time alerting of hotlist vehicles to locate missing endangered children and adults and to capture wanted criminals.

We have made the policies and usage statistics available to the public. These measures are part of the department's commitment to transparency and accountability. By making the policies and usage statistics accessible to the public, the Walla Walla Police Department aims to build trust with the community and demonstrate their responsible use of safety technology. This approach allows them to strike a balance between effectively solving crimes and respecting individual privacy rights.
