The Walla Walla Fire Department maintains five Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances. The ambulances are staffed with a minimum of one Paramedic and one EMT. Two ALS ambulances are staffed 24/7 for immediate response. There are an additional two ambulances that are available to handle emergencies that are crossed staffed with our engine crews.
EMS division equipment includes:
- 2020 Ford F-450 Type 1 ambulance
- 2016 Dodge 4500 Type 1 ambulance
- 2014 Dodge 3500 Type 3 ambulance
- 2011 Ford F-350 Type 3 ambulance
- 2012 Ford F-350 Type 3 ambulance
- 2022 Ford F-250 - Deputy Chief Response Vehicle
- 2007 Jeep Commander - Community Paramedic Response Vehicle
The Walla Walla Fire Department is a Washington State Verified ALS trauma service. Ambulances are equipped with the most advanced ALS pre-hospital equipment available, including:
- EKG/12 LEAD with pacing capabilities
- Pulse-oximetry and capnography capabilities
- Over 20 medications, including medications for pain control, rapid sequence intubation, and acute cardiac care Invasive airway equipment

The Walla Walla Fire Department initiated ambulance transport services in 1969 and ALS services in 1973, making it the third oldest ALS service in the state of Washington. Currently, nearly half of the department members are Paramedics, with most of the remainder of the department members as certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT).
