Resolution 2022-50 adopted a proclamation policy for the City of Walla Walla.

The following policies govern requests for issuance of City of Walla Walla proclamations:

1. Requests should be submitted at least thirty (30) days prior to the due date to the City Clerk's office. The City Clerk will email the draft proclamation to Council to determine if there are any objections.

2. All requests should clearly include the name, address, and telephone number of the person(s) making the request, as well as the name of the person(s) that will be accepting the proclamation at the Council meeting. If no one will be present to personally accept the proclamation, the reading of the proclamation at the meeting will be dispensed with, and it will be mailed to the requestor or designee.

3. Requests shall include draft proclamation language and background information about the local event, exceptional person(s), non-profit organization, or occasions of importance.

4. Renewal requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

5. Requests for out of City events or for-profit causes will be denied.

6. National or International groups requesting proclamations must have an in-city sponsor.

7. Submission of a request does not guarantee issuance of a proclamation. Greetings from the Mayor or other forms of recognition may be issued when a proclamation request does not meet the guidelines.
