The Sea Monkeys Swim Team has completed for the 2024 Summer Season. Registration for the 2025 season will OPEN Monday, May 12. Check back here for details about the 2025 season.
Sea Monkeys is a recreational, non-competitive, introductory swimming team for swimmers ages 6 to 16. Swimmers are introduced to specialized swimming skills:
- Stroke modification
- Endurance & strength building
- Flip turns and starting dives
- Introduction to pace clock and swimming sets
The Sea Monkeys 2024 Season lasts eight weeks
- Two four-week sessions
- Three practice times per session
Session 1: Monday, June 17-Friday, July 12
Practice times:
- 9:45 a.m.-10:40 a.m.
- 10:45 a.m.-11:40 a.m.
Session 2: Monday, July 15-Friday, Aug. 9
Practice times:
- 8:45 a.m.-9:40 a.m.
- 9:45 a.m.-10:40 a.m.
- 10:45 a.m.-11:40 a.m.
Qualifying Swim Test
To qualify for Sea Monkeys, swimmers must pass the Sea Monkeys' Qualifying Swim Test on the first day.
Swim
- 2 lengths/laps of BOTH freestyle AND backstroke
- Without
- instructor support
- using the wall or lane line
- standing on the bottom of the pool
- Without
- 1 length breaststroke
- 1 length butterfly
- proficiency is NOT required
- butterfly will be developed in the Beginner Sea Monkeys level
Tread Water
- Tread water to keep the body vertical
- Use legs and underwater arm movements
- Continuously for 3 minutes
- Head must remain above the water the entire time
Participants who are unable to fulfill these requirements will be refunded, removed from the program, and placed in the appropriate Stroke School class if desired.
Swimmer Placement
Practices are broken into four groups based on stroke and endurance ability:
- Red Group (Beginners)
- Yellow Group (Skill Builders)
- Blue Group (Endurance Builders)
- GreenGroup (Elite)
You will be asked to answer prompt questions at the end of the registration process to help determine where your Sea Monkey will be placed
