Walla Walla Public Library to reopen May 3rd

Walla Walla Public Library will be open for patrons to enter the building for browsing, checkout, and computer use beginning May 3rd.  Building capacity will be limited to 25 with a 1 hour time limit for each patron visit. Library staff will continually evaluate this and work to increase capacity and open hours through the month of May. For patrons wishing to avoid in-person interaction, the library will continue to offer daily curbside pickup appointments, and all online resources, programs, and registration options will continue as before. Face masks covering the nose and mouth will be required for all patrons over 5 years old and will be provided for anyone without one. Patrons unable to wear a mask are invited to utilize curbside checkout or home delivery, and to check out laptops. Open WiFi remains accessible in the Alder and Poplar Street parking lots and surrounding lawns as well.  

  • Open hours are Monday-Friday, 1pm-7pm, and Saturday 11am-3pm; please enter at the Poplar St. entrance. 

  • Curbside pickup will continue at the current Alder St. entrance, with hours changed to Monday-Friday, 10am-1pm and Saturday 10am-11am. 

  • Home delivery is available upon request for those unable to access services during open or curbside hours. 

  • Use of public computers is limited to 50 minutes (within the 1 hour visit time limit.) 

  • Library furniture has been removed to ensure adequate space for social distancing; no seating will be available except at computer terminals. 

  • Patrons are asked to observe the CDC guideline of 6 feet of space between staff and patrons, and patrons not in the same household.  

  • Library staff will maintain a safe environment by: 

  • Frequent sanitization of high-touch surfaces 

  • Quarantining all returned materials for 24 hours 

  • Maintaining a 6-foot distance between ourselves, each other, and patrons  

  • Patrons are asked to help us maintain a safe environment by:  

  • Staying home if you feel unwell, have any symptoms, or have had a known COVID exposure in the past 2 weeks 

  • Visiting alone if possible 

  • Making a list and limiting your number of visits 

  • Not re-shelving items while browsing 

  • Adhering to the 1 hour visit limit (timers will be provided)
