2021 Washington State Energy Code Workshop

Join us for a comprehensive full-day workshop designed to enhance your knowledge of building codes, permit requirements, energy efficiency, and cutting-edge tools in the construction industry. This workshop is targeted to design professionals and contractors. Attendees will gain practical knowledge regarding new State energy code requirements so that future permit submittals to city and county building departments are complete 
and can be quickly reviewed and processed.

Session 1 — 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Washington State Energy Code – Residential Update & Education

 Stay abreast of the latest developments in Washington State’s energy codes. Join WSU’s energy program as we cover the new 2021 Washington State Energy Code Residential (WSEC-R) changes (CR103) that took effect in March 2024. Our presentation will contain both beginner and intermediate level education/update on the WSEC-R.

Session 2 — 1-3 p.m.

Washington State IRC & IMC for Residential Ventilation

Delve into the intricacies of the Washington State International Residential Code (IRC) and International Mechanical Code (IMC) as they pertain to residential ventilation systems. Jonathan P. Jones will guide participants through the code requirements where the Washington: IRC/IMC and WSEC-R fresh air requirements meet.

Session 3 — 3:30-5:30 p.m.

Continuous Insulation Strategies

Explore the importance of continuous insulation in building envelopes. Rick Bluementhal will cover various insulation materials, installation techniques, and code compliance considerations. Gain practical knowledge on achieving energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and moisture management through effective insulation practices.
