WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Please be advised that the city of Walla Walla will be performing maintenance at the Mill Creek Watershed intake facility and will be switching the primary source of city water to groundwater wells during the week of July 24-27.
Typically, 88% of the city’s water comes from the Mill Creek Watershed in the form of surface water.
With this change, customers may experience a change in the taste, odor, or temperature of water from their tap. Please be assured that the water meets all state and federal drinking water quality standards.
The city encourages water users to consider voluntary water conservation measures such as:
- Watering during the cool parts of the day, as it can save up to 300 gallons per day;
- Repairing dripping faucets by replacing washers, since one drop per second wastes 2,700 gallons of water per year; and
- Setting lawn mower blades one notch higher. Longer grass means less evaporation and could save from 500 to 1,500 gallons or irrigation water each month.
