News Release - Phase Two of East Chestnut Street IRRP construction to begin July 5

Please be advised that the intersection of East Chestnut Street and South 2nd Avenue will close for construction on July 5, 2023.

The closure is planned for July 5, 2023 through Aug. 29, 2023. Work within the intersection of 2nd and Chestnut will include water, sewer, stormwater and signal upgrades, cement concrete ADA ramps, new asphalt roadway, signing, and striping. This work is a continuation of work currently in process on Chestnut Street. The work on Chestnut Street is scheduled to be completed Oct. 31. Detours will be in place on South 3rd Avenue, East Maple Street and South Park Street.

Please see attached map for detour details. Additionally, the City of Walla Walla Street and Water Divisions will be addressing repair work on South 2nd Avenue during the same timeframe. Some water-related repairs will require road closures. Detours will be in place. Thank you for your patience and cooperation, and please remember to slow down and follow all posted signage in work zones.
